So, my boyfriend and I were supposed to go to Florida to visit my parents, but our plans changed last minute. Honestly, as much as I miss my parents and my dog, it was a blessing in disguise. It rained in Florida all week, but here in Maine, we had the most beautiful weather and an amazing time. Maine is so beautiful and many of us take that for granted. So, if you ever find yourself in Maine, don’t get caught in the “there’s nothing to do here” cliche mentality. Get out and enjoy it because it is such a unique and special place to be. Trust me, you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else in the summer time.
Here is a look into our Maine stay-cation:
Day 1: Check out my last post, “what do you take for granted?” to see our Bucksport and Bar Harbor birthday adventure with the mustang. 😊
Day Two: 📍Rockland,ME
Rockland is a beautiful coastal town! I’m obsessed with nautical scenes and just exploring by the ocean of course, so I was one happy girl. Everyone goes to Camden or Bar Harbor, so it was nice to go somewhere different. We went to Breakwater Light which is one of my favorite lighthouses in Maine! You can also see shots of this destination in one of my earlier posts, “The Maine Adventure ft. the Denim Dress.”
This man was here the whole time capturing the day by filling is book full of watercolors of the ocean. Everyone was moving around him snapping pictures (guilty) but there he was taking it all in and making memories through his art. I thought this was so cool and meaningful.
Day 3: 📍Eagle’s Bluff
We went for a short but really beautiful hidden hike on Eagle’s Bluff. We could not have picked a more clear and beautiful day to take in these views. It was so quiet and peaceful up there, it was so nice to just disconnect from the world for a while, just us.
Moral of the story: we didn’t get the vacation we originally had our hearts set on, but in a way, we got so much more. I know I definitely gained a better appreciation for our state. I also got to spend some quality time with my best friend who is also my boyfriend, and I think that is so important for couples. It is so easy and almost inevitable to get so caught up in the everyday stress that comes with work and other obligations that you truly need that time together to disconnect from the outside and recharge together. We were in our own little world and it was absolutely perfect.
If your plans fall through, change it up. Get out there and take in the beauty of this world with your best friend, your soulmate, or completely on your own.
Recharge. Change your perspective. Stay Golden.
