First of all, my Pappy is the absolute cutest human being on the entire planet. I adore him more than words could ever say. He is the most humble, caring, hard working, wise man and is one of the biggest blessings God has ever given me.
He just started a garden in his yard, and every day he gets so excited to see that it grew over night. He is so proud of it, and his giant smile brings my heart so much happiness. When you ask him about it, he goes, “I didn’t know what I was doing, I just threw some seeds in the ground and hoped they would grow.”
I think that extremely humble explanation can be applied to every day life. Here’s the thing, we as humans actually have no idea what we’re doing. How can we? It’s not like we have a rule book or manual.
Do you let the uncertainty of the outcome stop you from taking the steps to go after what you want?
My best friend is moving to Georgia this fall (see my last post, “Leah’s Sunshiny Day” to learn more about her, she’s the bomb and an inspiration to everyone). She woke up one day and finally decided to follow her dream and move down south. The outcome is full of uncertainties that are quite overwhelming in comparison to the comfortability of her hometown, but she will not grow if she doesn’t take this chance. Think about it, if my Pappy hadn’t planted those seeds, he wouldn’t have a garden full of vegetables. He didn’t know if he would be successful or not, but he said, “what the hell” and went for it anyway. Leah doesn’t know what the future holds, but she’s taking the risk and the steps necessary to grow as a person.
Guys, if you find that you are not growing, you are not moving.
In this life, if you ever find that you are not progressing, DO SOMETHING. Take a step. Take ten. Get moving. We are not meant to stand still. We are meant to move forward, to get better, to experience new things, to see new things, to learn, and to feed our souls.
Our movements don’t have to be so calculated. Did you know that? Trust me on this one, guys. You have to let yourself live, you have to let your soul explore. You have to let yourself say, “what the hell, who cares if I fail, I need to try for myself.”
Throw some seeds in the ground and see what grows.
It could be overnight, it could be a process, but you will never have even a chance at growing as a person and seeing your dreams flourish if you don’t take that chance.
Are you taking a chance? If not: “What the hell?”
