“Be deliberate, be unafraid.”
Most of us have this weird notion that we don’t have control over our own success. Where does this come from? Existing within our comfort zones.
We love what is comfortable, we love living in that safety bubble. The problem is, if you stay in your comfort zone, you’ll never feel a complete sense of fulfillment, mostly because you will never push yourself for more, and you’ll always have that underlying question, “what if?”
Is success in our control? Or is it something that is pre-determined for us, and we’re all just falling into the plan?
Success is a decision. Hands down. It is.
The universe doesn’t just look at you an say, “Opps, oh shit, you actually aren’t meant to be successful. You can watch other people live your dreams, though.” Oh yeah, and then you’re just supposed to sit there and say, “Oh, okay. Cool, so I just can’t be successful.” No. Contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t work like that.
We come up with all of these excuses for not going after what we want. Maybe we’re really lazy, but most of the time we’re honestly scared shitless. Of what? I’m not really sure. Scared of failure, scared of losing people, scared of rejection, or of loneliness. Fear is the biggest barrier to success.
Let me try to alleviate that fear. You guys, you cannot live in a state of fear. Whether you know it or not, that is exactly what you’re doing by limiting yourself out of all of the tiny fears building up in your mind, convincing you that you can’t have what you want in this life.
Here’s your reality check: You are scared of failing after trying to pursue your dreams, but here’s the real kicker, by living in fear and not going after what you want, you’re still failing. At least in the pursuit, you have a chance to have grab it. By hiding in your little bubble, you have absolutely no chance. None.
In your perfect world, money aside, what would bring you the most happiness? Your dream career? Love? Traveling?
Success isn’t just determined professionally. It is defined by your happiness. Will you be truly happy by depriving yourself of fulfilling your dreams?
You have 3 things to figure out:
- What brings/will bring you the most satisfying sense of happiness.
- What your dreams are.
- What you can do to achieve your happiness and your dreams.
Your fears squashed:
Fear of losing people: The people who really love you will stay with you. They will be on the journey with you, cheering you on, dreaming your dreams with you and helping to make them come true. The people who are really meant to be in your life will be there. I promise. If you don’t pursue your personal happiness you will grow to be resentful, and that is of disservice to yourself and to the people in your world.
Fear of rejection: So, you’re scared of not making it, of failing, or of being turned away. But guess what, by not going after what you want, you are rejecting yourself. You are rejecting your own opportunity for success.
Fear of loneliness: There is no stronger sense of loneliness than existing in a place that you don’t belong.
Be strong. Be unafraid. Go after what you want.
