But Actually, Be Yourself

So a few of you guys have emailed me asking for blogging advice, and honestly, the biggest piece of advice I can offer is to BE YOURSELF. Seriously!  I’ve definitely noticed in the “blogging world” and life in general, everyone tries to put off this image of being what they think they should be or look like, instead of just doing the easiest thing and being who you really are.  Plus, that’s what makes you interesting.  Individuality is so underrated and I hate that.  Why is that so freakin’ hard?!  Why do we make things ten times more difficult than they have to be?

We need to look beyond the whole clichΓ© advice of “Just be yourself! You’re special!” and realize that we add so much unnecessary anxiety to our lives by trying to be something we aren’t.

In the blogging community, I am surrounded by people who absolutely kill it in the fashion world.  I am by no means a fashionista, or a fashion blogger by any definition of the word.  If I were to describe my fashion sense, I would say that I have a strong hatred for crocs, but will rock a t shirt and ripped jeans with a Michael Kors purse and think I’m out to slay.

When I first started my blog, I actually felt so overwhelmed because here I was just starting out looking at all of these blogger Instagrams and I was super intimidated.  They were decked out in amazing outfits, and had beautiful pictures as they were taking the world by storm and I was just hanging out in my v neck with ripped jeans with my hair resting in a tangled mess on the top of my head.  I let it make me feel pressured for about a day, then came to the realization that I don’t need to be like them.  I believe that if you guys are reading my blog, you kinda dig the different style I bring AKA real people casual every day style.  I don’t want to change who I am.  I want to bring a new feel to the blogging world and leave my mark in life in general. I want to be real with you guys, and myself.

Stop pressuring yourself, stop comparing, stop competing, stop feeling inferior.  You are the bomb just the way you are.  Work what your momma gave ya.

Wave your dry shampoo in the air like you just don’t care.

Cheers to you, you beautiful souls.  The jig is up, stop working so freakin’ hard at being something you’re not, and just kick back and be yourself.  Give it a shot. Maybe we’ll make individuality a thing again.

Stay you.  Stay Golden

  1. So true – I’ve felt that pressure to put a good image of myself out there so this is what I really needed to remind myself to stick to my guns and celebrate what makes me different! Thank you πŸ™‚

  2. It takes less energy and is much less stressful to be actually who you are opposed to mustering up a false narrative. I don’t have the time, energy, or patience with myself to be anything other than the most authentic version of me. Thanks for the reminder!
